Teak oil is used to recover your furniture’s natural golden brown color but is only a temporary solution that must be applied monthly. Furthermore, Teak oil is not actually made from teak oil and does not protect the furniture from UV rays, water, contaminants and moisture from penetrating the wood, unlike a teak sealer which we would rather recommend. Furthermore, when applying teak oil, it will leave an oily substance on the surface of the wood that can accumulate mildew, mold or fungus growth if applied unevenly.

Since we cannot control for all possible variations in production, you should be aware that your product may differ slightly from what is shown. Each material has its own degree of this difference and such will never match exactly with another item or shipment due to differing woods being used at different times throughout the production process. Anderson Teak will not be held responsible for WOOD GRAIN, COLOR and NATURAL VARIATIONS.

Material

Teak – Grade A Anderson Teak
Only Premium Grade-A Teak wood is used under the Anderson Teak Collection with the final product arriving unfinished, sanded smooth, without any finish for an authentic and natural smooth touch – the best way to showcase Grade-A Teak.

Care & Maintenance

Teak is a natural product; it can be left out in the open all year round through rain, hail or shine. Its color will gradually mellow to a graceful silver grey. The character of your furniture will alter, but its strength will remain. An occasional scrub down with hot soapy water will compliment this process and discourage any moss growth.

To preserve the original color from aging to a silver-grey patina, you must apply a teak sealer/protectant (not teak oil) onto your furniture. Teak Sealers are different than Teak Oil and works by sealing the existing oils present in the wood, preventing UV rays, water, contaminants and moisture from penetrating the wood. Teak Sealers provide longer lasting protection than

Teak Oils – up to one year or more and should be reapplied annually as opposed to monthly application for teak oils, does not leave an oily substance on the surface of the wood that can accumulate mildew, mold or fungus growth and does not affect the teak wood’s natural oils present or it’s color when applying with a clear teak sealer.

If the furniture is not new and has been used outdoors, we recommend first cleaning it by scrubbing down the furniture with a stiff bristle brush and then washing the furniture using a soft-pressurized water hose. After washing down and still wet apply a Teak Cleaner onto your furniture using a sponge and let it sit for 4-5 minutes. After 4-5 minutes, scrub again to clean and remove excess dirt and build up and finish by rinsing down with hose and water. Cleaning and scrubbing should be done with the grain of the wood.

Yes. Before leaving your teak furniture outside where rainfall may occur, we recommend to wipe down with a damp cloth to remove any leftover wood dust from the manufacturing process. Before placing cushions on your teak furniture, remove any leftover wood dust by wiping the furniture with a damp cloth, especially the seats of the furniture as teak wood produces natural oils that will secrete and may stain your cushions if not properly wiped down. Expect some of this natural oil to secrete out following the first few rainfalls, and if in contact with the water, may leave oil stains on your patio or floor. After the first few wipe downs, furniture contact with water should not be an issue.

Cushions

• Blot (don’t rub) liquid spills with a clean, dry cloth. For oil-based spills, apply
an absorbent such as corn starch, then remove with a straight edge.
• Spray on a mild cleaning solution of soap (such as Dawn® or Woolite®) and water.
• Rinse the fabric thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Air dry

Sunbrella fabrics do not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and
other foreign substances if not removed from the fabric. To remove mold or mildew:
• Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of water.
• Spray on entire area and allow to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes.
• Clean entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush.
• Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
• Air dry.
For severe mold/mildew growth, bleach quantities may be increased.
It is best to clean the entire surface area of the fabric to avoid water rings and residue.

Immediately apply an absorbent such as corn starch directly on the oil-based spill. Let sit for
10 minutes and remove the excess using a straight edge or ruler. This helps remove the spill
and prevents it from being pressed into the fabric. Then proceed with the cleaning process.
For other spills, products such as 303® Multi-Surface Cleaner, Dawn®, or Resolve® are
applicable.

• One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella® fabrics looking good is to brush off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fabrics and wipe up spills or clean soon after
a spill occurs. The quicker you clean spills, the easier they can be to remove.
• While Sunbrella fabric offers excellent protection against stains, full removal is not always guaranteed if spills are not addressed promptly.
• Avoid scrubbing, hard bristle brushes or any other abrasive cleaning method.
• Sunbrella should only be allowed to air dry.
• Protect the area around your Sunbrella fabric when using bleach or other chemical solvents that may discolor non-Sunbrella fabrics. Always rinse Sunbrella thoroughly.
• Bleach can have harmful effects on the natural environment around you. Please follow all safety and environmental precautions according to the bleach label.
• If fabric has some wrinkling, use an iron on the synthetic setting. As iron temperatures may vary, first test a small inconspicuous area before ironing the entire piece.
• DO NOT use a steamer or an iron set to the steam setting.

Sunbrella® is not waterproof but it is water repellant. This means that during the manufacturing process a water repellant finish is applied to the fabric. The wear resulting from normal usage and cleaning will slowly reduce the effectiveness of this finish. If your fabric remains constantly exposed to the elements and water repellency is a factor then we suggest that you re-treat your Sunbrella® fabrics after vigorous cleaning with a water repellant treatment or fabric guard, available from marine shops.

Sunbrella® fabrics have been tested and proven to provide up to 98% uv protection from the harmful effects of the sun, depending on the depth of color. White and lighter colored fabrics provide less protection than darker fabrics do. This protective factor is inherent to the product and will not be reduced by usage and/or exposure of the fabric to the sun.

Warranty

This warranty does not cover and is void if damage is result of freight/shipping. A failure
caused by unreasonable or abuse use, acts of God, improper care, freeze damage,
mildew, normal wear, fading and stretching of fabrics, glass breakage, glides, repairs, or
modifications to the product/s after purchase, or if customer fails to provide reasonable
and necessary care maintenance as outlined in our instructions/maintenance and care.
Teak wood is a natural material. As such, you may notice checking (small cracks), teak
oil secretions, and lifting of the grain as the wood weathers outdoors. These are normal
occurrences and are not covered by warranty.
